How to Prepare CLOTHING Items

Check out our tips below to best prepare your items to sell well!

Clothing – General

  • We accept CLEAN, gently worn (no piling, spots, fading, excessive wear or odors) sizes Newborn to Size 18.
  • Presentation is everything! Press or fluff clothing with a dryer sheet to freshen them up. The better they look, the better they sell! Check for stains, broken zippers, torn hemlines, or musty smells, and remove or repair those items. Use good lighting to inspect BEFORE you take the time to enter the item into the system.
  • All clothing should be on hangers EXCEPT bundled onesies and bundled infant pants (see guidelines below).
  • Hang items with the hanger facing left, like a question mark (?).
  • You have the option to put a unique print tape / ribbon / yarn on the tops of your hangers. This will help you identify your items during pick-up after the sale.
  • All KidStuff tags should go on the top right corner (shoulder or hip area) of the clothing when it’s facing you laying on counter.
  • We recommend not bagging clothing if possible. If you must, make sure to attach the tag to the item in the bag – NOT the bag itself.
  • The waist of all bottoms must be pinned to the top of a hanger, not to the horizontal bar or folded over. You can secure the bottoms to the horizontal bar with a second set of pins if you would like.
  • Securely safety pin all sets and accessories together. All pieces need to be visible without having to unpin them.
  • For outfits with multiple pieces, secure all pieces to a hanger with pins. Clothing outfits should have only one tag denoting the number of pieces (i.e. “3-Piece Outfit”).
  • Teen clothing brands should only include current brands and styles that a teen would wear today. This includes, but is not limited to: American Eagle, Hollister, Aeropostale, Abercrombie & Fitch, PINK, North Face, Adidas, Nike, Under Armor, Vineyard Vines, Champion, Lululemon, Columbia, and Gap.

      Furniture & Decor

      • Cribs (manufactured June 28, 2011 or later) changing tables, dressers, twin beds, bunk beds and more!
      • Kid themed room décor only: lamps, wall hangings, frames, etc.
      • Nursery and youth furniture and room accessories are very popular. If space allows, we may ask that cribs be assembled for display purposes. Attaching a photograph of the furniture staged at home often helps the item sell.
      • Attaching instruction papers, warranties, and other documents is an added bonus for buyers.
      • Visit the manufacturer’s website to download instructions (consider including retail price, so shoppers will recognize how much they are saving). Put all papers in a plastic bag and use a zip tie to attach the bag to the item.
      • Consider a super large ziplock bag (what you would normally use for blankets) for accessories since they may be larger.
      • Try to zip tie all the pieces together if there are multiple large pieces.
      • Use the large item tags for the items that cannot be carried to the hold area; we recommend using zip ties to attach the tags to larger items.
      • For multi-piece large items, print multiple copies of the tag (ensure the “Item#” is the same on each tag). After printing, write on each copy of the tag: “1 of _”, “2 of _”, etc.
      • With large items, we suggest also placing a piece of masking tape directly on the toy with your consignor number, item number, and price. This will enable us to sell your item even if the tag comes off!

      • Bats, golf clubs, baseball gloves, skateboards, skates, hockey sticks, helmets, fishing poles, sleeping bags and more!
      • MUST be clean!

      • Bag individual small games cartridges and tape them to a large piece of cardboard with packing tape.

      Non-Clothing Items - General

      • CLEAN all items well: wipe them down with a wet or dry cloth. Check for stains, rips, tears, holes or damage.
      • Ensure you have all the parts and the item is in working order. Replace any batteries with fresh ones.
      • Bag any small parts and securely attach the bag to the main item; if parts get separated the item will not sell.

      Toys - Books - Puzzles

      • Toys sell GREAT! If you price them reasonably, you’ll take nothing home!

      Stuffed Animals

The ONLY stuffed animals we accept are:

      • Character stuffed toys such as Mickey Mouse, Elmo or other name band character
      • Build-A-Bear
      • Ones that have a function such as a talking or educational toy
      • They must be in like-new condition; check for odors, stains, rips, tears, holes or damage.

All other standard stuffed animals will be removed from the sale floor and negatively affect your sell through rate.

      Books & DVDs

      • Books & DVDs sell great when priced to sell.
      • Make sure DVD cases are not EMPTY!
      • Prescreen the DVDs for any skips or viewing issues, wipe them clean & place in the correct case. Tape the case closed with packing tape to avoid theft; cases are opened at Check-It Table.
      • Place rubber bands around groupings or place them in a bag; clearly identify the titles on the tag or written in sharpie on the bag.
      • If attaching the tag to the book or DVD itself, either use a specialty self-adhesive label for books or attach a paper label with masking / painter’s tape. This is to ensure that the label does not damage the book when it is removed. Packing tape can be used on hard cover books with slick finish.
      • If books or DVDs are in a bag, please attach the label directly to the bag with packing tape

      Games

      • If the game has a box, then it should be taped closed and note on tag that all pieces are accounted for; boxes will be opened at Check-It Table.
      • If no box, bag any small parts and securely attach the bag to the main game; if parts get separated the item will not sell.
      • If attaching the tag to the game box directly, either use a specialty self-adhesive label for books or attach a paper label with masking / painter’s tape. This is to ensure that the label does not damage the game when it is removed.

      Puzzles

      • If the puzzle has a box, then it should be taped closed and note that all pieces are accounted for; boxes will be opened at Check-It Table.
      • Wood puzzles or cardboard puzzles should be wrapped in saran wrap or cover with a bag and packing tape. Dry-cleaning bags also work great for covering puzzles.
      • Do NOT put wooden puzzle pieces in a baggie and attach to the main puzzle. Put the puzzle together completely and secure it with wrap.
      • If attaching the tag to the puzzle box directly, either use a specialty self-adhesive label for books or attach a paper label with masking / painter’s tape. This is to ensure that the label does not damage the puzzle when it is removed.
